Spay Neuter Assistance Program
The Spay Neuter Assistance (SNAP) Program supports low-income households with low-cost spay neuter services. Please read below for more information and eligibility requirements.

The Humane Society of Kitchener Waterloo and Stratford Perth provides spay/neuter surgeries for pets in low income households in:
- City of Kitchener
- City of Waterloo
- City of Stratford*
*Dogs only for City of Stratford residents. Cat services are provided at our low-cost spay neuter clinic at our Stratford Perth Animal Centre.
SNAP Program services are provided by the clinic at our Kitchener Waterloo Animal Centre.
Applying for the Program
- Please read through our animal eligibility requirements and our frequently asked questions page.
- Complete the online application below or come into our centres to apply in person.
- Pet owners are required to pre-register for the procedure, pre-pay, and bring their pet to the shelter early in the morning on the day of the surgery. Pets are ready to be picked up mid- afternoon and return home.
- This service is intended for those currently living in the Cities of Stratford, Kitchener & Waterloo.
For those living outside of those cities, please visit our Spay Neuter Clinic page for public services (no income or geography restriction) out of our Stratford Perth Animal Centre location.

We do not offer flea treatment/dewormer for dogs |
The above costs include a microchip, pain medication, and an e-collar (cone).

SNAP Eligibility Requirements
Animals that ARE eligible for spay-neuter services:
- Healthy adult cats under 7 years of age and healthy adult dogs under 5 years of age
- Healthy kittens and puppies that are over four months of age
- Female cats that are in heat, or healthy pregnant cats
